Properties which determine its industrial as well as medical use
are given to ozone, allotropic variety of oxygen, characterized by
triatomic molecules. Among its medical properties we can mention:
antimicrobial, antiviral, antimicotic, improve the supply of
oxygen to hipoxemically affected tissue areas and reactives oxygen
metabolism capacities of cell, being very useful in the treatment
of many pathologies. Furthermore, its satisfactory results and its
low cost, in comparison with other terapeutic agents, justify also
its application. Our study shows the casuistical analysis in
45.000 patients treated in the Ozone Therapy Department of the
Provincial Hospital of Villa Clara, in a six year period,
pointing out the different medical specialities and pathologies in
which ozone was used as therapeutic agent alone or combined with
other therapies and its efficacy.
