Nicargua's Ortega in Cuba for medical check HAVANA (Reuter) - Nicaraguan former president Daniel Ortega, who was treated for a heart condition a year ago in Cuba, is back in Havana for a medical check-up, officials said Thurdsay. The Cuban news agency Prensa Latina said Ortega was receiving a treatment called ozone therapy to purify the blood. It did not say how long he would be staying. The leftist ex-president, a friend of President Fidel Castro, stayed in Havana for several months' treatment after a check-up in the Cuban capital in November 1994 and revealed he had suffered a "silent" heart attack about three months previously. Ortega, 50, was defeated in 1990 elections by President Violeta Chamorro. Copyright 1996 Reuters Ltd. All rights reserved.
