The Application of Ozone in Preventive Medicine

Abstract

A general introduction, short history, and application of ozone as 
sterilizer in water preparation systems is given.  It is microbicide 
and virus-inactivating.  Previous investigations on the proliferation 
of pathogens in dental units and the efficacy of ozone in comparison 
to other possibilities show that a noticeable hygienic improvement of 
water for prevention is only possible where an ozonizing unit is 
used.  It is possible to reduce e.g. the toxicity of antibiotics and 
cytostatics through ozone.
