The Application of Ozone in Preventive Medicine E.G. Beck and F. Tilkes Institute of Hygiene, University of Giessen (Justus-Liebig-Universitat), Germany (West) Abstract A general introduction, short history, and application of ozone as sterilizer in water preparation systems is given. It is microbicide and virus-inactivating. Previous investigations on the proliferation of pathogens in dental units and the efficacy of ozone in comparison to other possibilities show that a noticeable hygienic improvement of water for prevention is only possible where an ozonizing unit is used. It is possible to reduce e.g. the toxicity of antibiotics and cytostatics through ozone. Publish Date: 1991
